The candidates should have 5+ years of experience in the practice areas. Attorney candidates should also be willing to become the successor primary lawyer for the current practice as well as to help continue the development of the practice for future success.

Litigation Legal Assistant: The ideal candidate will have experience in the following:

  • Managing attorney calendars and files, including complex probate litigation matters, court deadlines, hearings, depositions and meetings.
  • Drafting, transcribing, proofreading and editing correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, estate planning documents and other legal materials with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable legal standards and procedures in all document preparation, filing and administrative tasks.
  • Preparing and submitting court filings and following up with court personnel regarding filing status, court dates and scheduled appearances.
  • Applying legal standards and procedures related to probate, trust administration and litigation, including the Michigan Court Rules and local rules applicable in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
  • Using Michigan state and federal electronic filing systems to submit pleadings and other court documents accurately and on time.
  • Communicating professionally with clients, courts and opposing counsel, conducting deed and legal-record research, and coordinating document execution through DocuSign.
  • Scheduling mediations and Zoom meetings, coordinating availability among multiple parties, and preparing settlement agreements and accompanying pleadings following mediation.
  • Prioritizing a diverse workload for multiple attorneys, entering attorney time and independently managing multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining high-quality work with minimal supervision.
